Small global player with substantial know-how

- At the LMT booth many visitors were watching the live broadcasts from Schwarzenbek, Munich and Magdeburg.
According to figures published by the organizers, this year some 140,000 visitors came to Hanover, including more than 40% from abroad. An especially interesting development was the shift in where visitors came from. The number of visitors from Asia and South America increased, while the share of European visitors fell. This trend is also reflected in LMT Group figures, as the chairman of the Management Board, Dr. Michael Heinrich, emphasizes: “Foreign subsidiaries’ share of Group sales was roughly 43% in 2010. Our turnover on Asian markets has increased tenfold in the last five years.” Dr. Michael Heinrich envisages a future for the company as a small global player: “We will grow through the internationalization of our business and achieve strong earnings through close cooperation within the Group. We therefore want to move forward in both these areas.” Accordingly, LMT announced at EMO that it is basing its international sales company on the model that has been successful in Germany. In the core markets of the USA, China, India and South America customers will then find sales segments specializing on important fields of application.
Award for SpeedCore next generation hob
The importance of specialization for LMT is demonstrated by a real highlight of the fair programme: LMT Fette’s next generation hob based on the new SpeedCore cutting material. In combination with LMT-developed coatings like Nanosphere, SpeedCore hobs make it possible to increase gear-cutting productivity by at least 30%. Industry experts also recognize the potential of such developments. The Maschinenmarkt trade journal honoured LMT’s SpeedCore hob with the prestigious MM Award in the tools category.
Lightweight future – spotlight on LMT composites know-how
At the EMO fair LMT Tools presented a whole series of tools that demonstrate how its know-how can generate substantial productivity increases in very different application areas.
